Dubai United Arab Emirates, commonly known as the UAE represents one of the most interesting places in the world when it comes to architectural innovation.   During the early 2000's oil money was flooding into the country which flooded the Emirates coffers and created a construction boom on a scale which has never been known before.   

See pictures (below) of ultra modern Dubai dynamic architecture and skyscrapers in the UAE.  Mega structures and super construction projects in Dubai United Emirates are numerous and astounding in both their scale and audacity.

While many ambitious projects were undertaken, a variety of circumstances including financial restrictions, political climate, and an overall investment shy world market put many of these projects to a halt.    Almost 90% of the cranes in the world were in Dubai and many still are.  The majority are currently idle.

This architecture boom and construction frenzy created some incredible and amazing designs.   This site is a study in the visionary side of modern construction technology.  

The architecture cannot be fully explained without understanding the setting in which it was taking place.    The vision was to create a playground for the rich on the backs of cheap labor, that vision did not come to fruition.  However, much of the infrastructure that was needed to create this wonderous vision did come into being.  The Dubai Archipelago is one such phenomenon.   This was a series of artificial islands which can be seen only from the air.

Dubai United Arab Emirates

This country is the center of highly concentrated oil wealth.  Famous for mega projects of staggering proportions, Dubai has a full ninety percent o f the worlds cranes, competing in a frenzy of epic building on a modern scale.   The UAE city of Dubai has some of the most impressive mega-projects ever built by man.

Due to recent shifts in the global economy, many of these projects are stalled and only partially completed.  Others progress slowly despite the change in capital backing.
